Most unfortunately, I have been dwelling on American and worldwide politics. Differences in political parties, unconstitutional laws and decrees being enacted with little or no fuss, entire cultures being dismantled for modern hedonism.
But I digress.

I've come to this idea that, essentially, there are only really two basic options people should or would adhere to. (this line of thinking is based entirely on the "do it right or not at all" sentiment)

It may be oversimplified, but again, this is just my line of thinking.

The options are freedom, or servitude.

I, myself, am a libertarian at heart, and I would choose freedom. But with this, comes great responsibility. To backtrack slightly, the modern myth that libertarians are anarchists is not true. Hence why the names and parties are different. I believe in limiting the scope of government to that of one that would only exist to protect the rights of the people, use logical and ethical means to enforce these rights and laws, and to act on the country's behalf when addressing foreign leaders or dignitaries.
Now, to be free, in the sense that I am speaking of, means you have the right to do whatever, wherever, and whenever you want, providing what you do does not harm others in the process. You are born free and, gods willing, you will die free. Now, this means that you are also more responsible for yourself and your actions. You can determine the course of your life, but you must actively shape it, lest you lose control and suffer the consequences of your actions. This also means that you might not have a great life. There would be no way of guaranteeing you success or that you would prosper. It would be sink or swim, and the odds are even cut. You may live in a small apartment and live paycheck to paycheck, or you may be the next industrial tycoon, who knows? It all depends on you, and we can't hold your hand through it. The burden of freedom is yours to bear. Do so bravely.

And for others, namely marxists and socialists, there is only one true path that would fit your taste, and that is of servitude. Slavery. The connotation of that word conjures indoctrinated images of the South and whips and abuse, but think of it much like this...
If you were the servants, and the governing body the master, what would you want for in life? Work, food, money, recreational entertainment, everything would be provided for you. You would live a tranquil and peaceful life, and all it takes is your silent consent. No more decisions to trouble you, no more civil unrest, no more hunger, no more inequality, no more worry. That all has been taken care of for you. You simply must live and obey. How simple can that be? Your lives and thoughts would no longer be your own, but what is that in comparison to the potential horrors of the world? Why struggle to create a fire in the dead of night? Or hunt unfamiliar grounds for nourishment? Come sit by our fire, come share of our food. We only ask that you trust us, your master, to protect you. You are all equal in chains. No one is above you, save for us, and no one is below you. Isn't this what you want?
